"Your Weekend in One" 9/29-9/30

Published: Thu, 09/27/18

Hey there, !
We had an amazing time last weekend at the Orchard Crawl. Thank you to all you came out and thank you so much to our sponsors and to our booths and entertainment and to our host Fischer's Croix Farm Orchard.

It's the last weekend in September.  And the temperatures are going to be brisk....I hope.  I'm headed to the St. Paul Farmer's Market this Saturday.  Need some ideas yourself?

Your Weekend in One Minute

Saturday
Fall Raptor Count and Hawk Watch | Carpenter Nature Center, Hastings | 10 am-2 pm | FREE | "Each fall, thousands of raptors and other bird migrants follow the St. Croix/Mississippi River Flyway south to their wintering grounds in the southern US and beyond. Our team of friendly spotters and greeters will set up behind the Administration Building to count raptor migrants as well as songbirds, gulls, and other southbound birds."
Saturday and Sunday
Prairie Sugar Weekend | Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River | 10 am-5 pm, both days | $6-$12 | Prairie sugar, also known as sorghum, was made over 150 years ago as a sweetener for farmers and their families. Visitors can help with the process of turning sorghum into sweet, syrupy molasses. Then explore the sugar beet crop in the Farm Lab fields and discover how sugar beets are processed into granulated sugar today.

Afton Apple Fest | Afton Apple Orchard, Hastings | 10 am-6 pm, both days | $4-$5 | Enjoy a hayride, petting farm, cider pressing demos, music, magician, and so much more!

I had been really looking forward to taking my six-year-old the Last Stop on Market Street at Children’s Theatre Company. We both enjoy reading the book together.
