Hey there !
Mothers everywhere it's your day
To eat, to sleep, to even play
Enjoy time together or alone
Eat some cake or play on your phone
These last two months have been long
For you and for us, this is our song
Mother’s Day is May 10, 2020 and, this year, the kids aren’t coming home from school with handmade gifts. With the most-recent extension of the stay-at-home order, almost every event has been cancelled. We have one online offering and fishing! If we find some more distance-appropriate events, we’ll add them between now and then. But, Dad, I’m afraid this is going to be on you this year. Check out our list of 10 ideas for free ways to celebrate with mom that don’t
require an event.
Welcome to May in the Twin Cities – which still finds much of our time shuttered spent at home. While our homes are typically our sanctuaries from the every day “busy” of work, school and activities, we’re still faced with doing all three in our place of peace. How to cope? FFTC has put together some tools for a May at Home (mostly).
May 9 - International Migratory Bird Day (annually, second Saturday in May)
Family Fun: Spring is the season for birds who migrate south during the cold to return to their northern nesting grounds. Bald eagles and trumpeter swans are two majestic examples of these birds. Three Rivers Parks District heads up a Trumpeter Swan Reintroduction Project in several of its parks. Try a family
outing to Elm Creek Park Reserve today - bring bikes if you can (many trumpeters hang out within view of the trails)

Of course, not many people in our lifetime have celebrated a birthday lock down. But now it seems the whole world is.
And part of it is we are going back to the basics.
Family. Cake. Presents. Song. Boom. Done. No matter what you do, birthdays are special and we have some ideas to make any party a celebration to remember.
As always, Minnesota's Fishing Opener is happening on the second weekend of May.
Gianna's husband, the master fisherman, has shared his favorite lakes to check out!
