Hi there !
Last week, I hit send on our weekly email and then checked my Facebook Groups. Personally, I have gotten off that platform for most things, but I have kept my groups.
And this is what I saw.
"I don't have words."
"What do you say to your people?"
"I'm not posting on any of my feeds for the rest of the day."
I had no point of reference. I had no idea what was happening, so I did what any 2021 adult does. I googled it.
I could not believe what I was seeing. I felt like I was in Russia in 1988 (or whatever year it was of the attempted coup).
I was so blown away that I couldn't speak. And then I was so angry that I couldn't speak. And then I was so sad that I couldn't speak. And the cycle would start again. Over and over.
So we haven't said anything about it until now. We are feeling the emotions. We are trying to explain this to our kids. We are working through all of this just like you.
We hurt for our friends. We are weary of trying to understand and see different perspectives. We want to have just ONE dang good week.
And again the world has asked us to reach for a little more patience. A little more effort. A little more endurance. We can do it if we take care of ourselves and are family.
So may we make a suggestion?
Use this long weekend to recharge. Maybe turn off your notifications. Breathe the air outside. Catch a snowflake on your tongue. Go for a hike. We have lots of ideas that can help you recharge together.
Life is still full of magical moments. It's just sometimes we need to help them along.
